That's pretty cool. I like the way that the fox looked up into the tree at the hunter/photographer and didn't flee. He was curious and a little nervous or anxious. Like a smoker trying to stop smoking going through the first few hours of withdrawal from Nicotine. Or a hyper kid in need of some Ritalin. Like a kid on a sugar high! LOL.
I guess if I were a fox responding to a mouse squeeking with so many bigger coyotes around the these days I'd be nervous too.
I was driving around the local F&W area and came across a Red fox with a bunch of young. Half her kits were on one side of the road and the other half on the other side of the road. She didn't know what to do when I stopped near a roadkill that she was feeding on. She ran off to my right when I first stopped my truck to get the camera out of the bag. Then she returned to the other side of the road (my left) and started to eat off the roadkill. Another car approached us from the other direction and scared her off the road. She ran off into the yard/wood lot to my left and then returned to feed on the road kill. It was getting dark and the sun was low in the sky or settting. My camera was brand new and I had not learned how to use theis new DSLR Canon TI2 so I fumbled trying to get it setup. I put it in the auto mode and tried to take a picture of the fox. The built in light flipped up and hit the brim of my baseball cap. I didn't expect that and didn't know what was going on for a second. Then the flash went crazy and starting acting like a strob light which scared off the fox again from the road kill. The other car stopped for a second or to to see what was going on. I wanted the car out of the way and as soon as they drove on the fox returned with little fox kit in her mouth and carried it across the street to my right. To my right was a drive way that lead to a Big Red Storage Structure next to a house. The little foxes were in the driveway just playing with each other waiting for mom to come back to them. But she wanted to feed on that road kill. I guess she needed the food so she could nurse the little fox kits. Anyway she returned back to my left side of the road and got the rest of the fox kits, took them across the road and went back to the road kill again. I wanted to get pictures of the little foxes but they were on the wrong side of the road and I could not shoot though the passenger window with the auto focus on the camera. The window on the drivers side was rolled down so I pointed the camera out the window and took a few shots. I got a couple of pictures and have them somewhere on my older computer's hard drive. They were kinda of blurry as the flash didn't work good or I was not using the camera right for lack of experience with the thing.
I've seen a few more Red Fox that were along the side of the road way or just off the road into a yard. We have a lot of Red Fox in Warrick County, Vanderburgh County outside the city limits and Posey County. I see them all the time around my house. Still it's fun to watch them.
Great Video BTW. That made my morning. Thanks for posting it.
