I've recently patterned some Dead Coyote "T" shot with a Carlson .680" that produces a very good pattern at 50 yards. However, I have not had the same success with lead buck shot sizes of 00, 000, 4 buck (in 2 3/4" & 3", 12 gauge) at the same distance.
It would've been nice if I could've had both types of shot to pattern well at the same distance. It may be possible with another choke constriction, but I feel that the alloy shot will penetrate better at the same distances, over or better than lead.
Which type of metal shot do you prefer, alloy or lead, for coyotes? Your thoughts on both metal types of shot, are welcome.
Thank you, Bowhunter57

I set my Nephew up with his 870 12 gauge with the New Ported Carlson Coyote Choke not the older version Carlson Dead Coyote Choke and i'm running Hornady #4 Varmint Express Buckshot down the tube , all guns even the same model will perform differently , we are getting extremely tight patterns out to 60 yards and will still drop them at 70 which is where I have him drawing the limit to if all possible

hoosierdaddy, Do you know what the constriction measures on your current New Ported Dead Coyote choke tube?
I had one of the originals and it measured .660", which is more of a turkey choke, for small lead shot sizes. I called Shane Carlson and told him about my bad experience with it and Dead Coyote "T" shot, beyond 30 yards. He said to mail it to him and he'd exchange it (no charge) for the .680" that I currently have.
I'll have to purchase some Hornady #4 Varmint Express Buckshot and see how it performs in my choke tube.
Also, you are correct about there being so many variables with shotguns. Barrel bore size, barrel length, back-bored barrels and not to mention all the choke tube variations.

I've been using Dead Coyote in T shot and found that it works really well, I've killed coyotes out to 65 yards with it.
