I've got access to a Remington Model 870 Wing master 12 gage shotgun and was wondering what type of choke should be used when shooting STEEL shot with this gun? I have to use steel shot for duck and dove hunting on this particular Fish and Wildlife Area.

I use modified for everything generally. For close or decoying birds an improved cylinder will give a bigger pattern, and for further shots an improved modified will give you the tightest pattern. As always you'll want to pattern the shells to see what percentage of hits you get in a 30" circle for what ever choke or ammo you have.
I would recommend an extended tube as they have a longer/more gradual taper in the tube and should give a better pattern, but not always!

Thanks Al: I think I have a modified and and a full choke tube for this shotgun. Just was not sure which one to use for STEEL SHOT. With lead shot it should not matter but some of the Steel Shot is pretty hard on the barrel and chokes I read. I use modified for everything generally. You'll want to be sure the barrel and choke are rated for steel shot! Most barrels anymore are okay for steel shot, some really old guns are not and you'll need to use tunsten(spelling) in those barrels.
