The 22 rimfire is always gone at our local Walmart because one guy shows up everyday before 6am and buys the limit of 3 boxes. The dept. manager told me it's the same guy and that he sells it online. Manager also told me this guy was making 2 times what it cost him to buy. I think this is happening all over. The local walmart has alot of ammo, just no 22rimfire or 22-250. They should ban this guy from buying any ammo if that's the case. But proving that's what he is doing might be hard to do. I talked to a guy at the shooting range the other day. He's from KY and comes to IN to shoot his 22LR Rifle. He shoots for hours and then sweeps up his spent 22 LR casings to sell for the brass. He told me that he goes to the local stores here on the day they get their 22 ammo shipment in and buys several bricks of 22LR ammo for his use. He said that they sell to anyone but each person is limited to buying on brick of 22LR ammo. So he takes his wife, brothers, sisters, Aunts and Uncles with him and they each buy a brick of 22LR ammo. The store needs to limit the sale of one Brick of 22LR ammo per GROUP of people. That way a big group or family can't buy the entire shipment out before any one else gets some. I know for a fact that some stores keep their 22LR ammo behind the counter and don't put it on display for the general public to see. They offer to sell it to special customers only which has been my PERSONAL experience with one store in my area that I frequent a lot. Walmart never has any 22 LR ammo anymore when I'm there. I don't go there for the 22LR ammo so I'm not there when they get their shipments in. A couple of months ago the amount of 22 LR ammo on the store shelves was high for a few days and I thought that the shortage was over. But I was mistaken. The demand for 22LR ammo has increased over the last two years. The number or new gun owners has also increased over the last two years. I guess more people bought 22 cal guns more than other caliber guns so the demand for 22 ammo sky rocketed beyond what the producers can make. The good news is that I read that the sales of guns has declined this past year so maybe the demand for 22 ammo will fall off and the producers will catch up and produce more 22 ammo.

Moose, There are places on line that will mail it to you that are coming down to a reasonable price now even with shipping. Not as cheap as it used to be but getting there.

Don't give up on ammo that your looking for. I found some Win. 22-250 40rd 45grn hp at a wally mart this weekend. Also like dawgdad says go online and google "gunbot", this will take you to a site that has already found the ammo for you. Just click on what your wanting and it shows who has it and how much. Hope this helps.
