Thinking hard about getting a Remington R15 in .223 to go along with my R25 [.243] All told I have around $1800 in the R25,and if I buy new and set it up the same way....it will cost just as much. New ones are around $1300 that I've seen. What should I expect to pay for a nice used one ? And do you know of any for sale or trade ? I live in extreme Southern Indiana so need to buy local probably. I have no complaints other than it is heavy. Thats the main reason I want the R15...and I love camo lol

Finding a used R15 this time of year at a good price might be tough. I sold one this spring for $950. Check Gunbroker and other sell sites daily.
I sold my R15 and got a DPMS LR243, couldn't take any more spinners and then running off. If you want to shoot heavier bullets you'll want a faster twist in 223 than 1/9,like my R15 was.

I am like Tak just added a R-25 to the gun safe. Have been using a Mauser .243 bolt gun and any one of a few AR-15's the past few years but decided to combine the two into the R-25.
1:9 twist will work up to 69 gr. OK but you have to test anything heavier to see if you can get it stable. I have 1:7 twists on my AR's that I take off of my competition rifles after about 3500 rounds. They still hammer out to 300 yards with no problem but at 600 I see some off call shots creeping in so I pull it off and get a new one, 1:7 can shoot up to 80 grain .223's. they are a little on the heavy side for a long day of carrying. The .223 75 BTHPs' were not real fur friendly leaving exit wounds like grapefruit.
Are you wanting the R-15 just to have the little brother of the R-25?

Geeze! Are they really that high?
I had 2 on waiting lists for SEVERAL months waiting on the release of the R15's, I paid under $1,000 then and sold off a few years ago.
For that kind of money, you could get a much better rifle and then have it camo-dipped however you want. Just my opinion.

Supply and demand.
Time of year can make the price change. I couldn't find a UMAR anywhere this January, now their easy to find.
