First night out of season Todd and I doubled up. Made 3 stands and on the 3rd we had a group light up about 2-300yds out along a ditch. Just couldn't see them. Had 3 show up to dying rabbit but didn't want to commit. Sat out there around 200 yds+ They actually turned around and started back where they came from until i switched the sound to feeding coyotes. They turned around and and started the circle down wind to our left around us. After 1 hit the 100yd and started getting skittish I dropped him. The other 2 bolted and couldnt get another shot on them. While this was going on we had a 4th coyote in our thermal way to our right. Flipped a coaxer squeak on the call and he loped right up to the call and sniffed it 50 yds away. It must have been too close for Todd since he connected on the 3rd running shot.

Glad you had some luck but you know what they say... no pictures, it never happened. Your best stories always end with someone dumping a mag, or dumping their dinner in the headlights.
Sawmiller, Lopedog and myself got humbled on the opener. We traveled several hours up into the northern flatlands of Indiana where we've had excellent success in recent years. Weather was great, big rain and high winds had just let up and the temperature was plummeting. It was 83 when we left home but it got down to 38 up there before daybreak. We spent the first 4 hours scouting and finding access then ran stands hard for nearly 8 hours. I'd guess we made 12-14 good stands, 2-3 halfass ones.
We caught a brief glimpse of one sprinting coyote which I inadvertently buggered up with a calling sequence. We also heard a few warning barks after kicking some deer down a fencerow.
The conclusion of our excitement was the one group of coyotes that got vocal around 2:45am. We'd heard ZERO vocals aside from the one barking. I'd been throwing the kitchen sink at them in an effort to locate all night but nothing was working. On this particular attempt I used my howler to rip off some excitable yips over top the Ecall howls and a group fired up. We moved in, made a stand, no luck. Tried to locate them again using the Ecall but got no response. Drove a mile down the road, used a different ecall, no responses anywhere. Drove further away, located with the ecall and barked on the howler again - BOOM - the original group behind us lights up. We went ahead and spent another 45 minutes several miles away, then came back to work them with a 10 minute stand. No luck with vocals or distress, but I was just curious... so I barked hard on the howler and BOOM they went crazy again. Something about that open reed howler agitated this group but we just couldn't close the deal.
What does "feeding coyotes" sound like? I assume some growling/yipping vocals?

Had an excellent night last night, ran about 7-1/2 hours. Saw 10-12 coyotes, a red fox and spent fifteen minutes playing with a bobcat from 15-50 yards. On the first stand I blatantly missed a chipshot coyote no less than 5 times. (err muhhh gawwwd) Redeemed myself later by muzzle-punching the prize of this pack.

The "feeding coyotes" is a Tony Tebbe sound that is some growling with coyotes yelping.
You gonna have that black one mounted?
We went out on Saturday night and had good response. First stand we called in a single and dumped it within 15 min. Second stand we started calling and instantly had a heat signature stand up in a ditch just east of us with a southeast wind. Dog took its time coming in, once it hit 100yds without plan we both pulled the trigger at the exact same time. There was two bullet holes through the neck of it. Last stand of the night we called a young one in and knocked it dead. 3 nights out and we have killed 5 males and 1 young female.
Tell me how to post pictures again.

Those TT sounds are sweet... I’ve been using the storybook sounds and have had some good luck. Been real feline around here lately. Called in #16 the other day. Can’t wait for kitty season.

Good lord, I've been locked out of my own website. Forgot my password, requested a new one and learned the email associated with this account is now invalid... have to wait 30 days for the email account to be unfrozen. What a mess. Had 2-day business trip turn into 7 on me, glad that's over with. I won't be in the office more than 3 straight days again this year, now I remember why it's hard to keep up with forums and social media. Additionally, my photobucket account was totally different than it was before. I ditched it and went to IMAGESHACK. Took five minutes to create an account and upload a few photos. You need to hit the "REPLY" button on a forum posts, instead of the "QUICK REPLY". Once in a reply you'll see the little photo icon at the top, click it and paste the image link. It's been a real exciting season so far, finding easy coyotes in places that have historically been tough calling. My shooting has been horrible, I think I've missed 6-7 so far, most chip-shots. I completely disassembled my gun and scope the other day, found a few loose screws and a lot of carbon. The suppressor sure dirties up a rifle. After re-assembly I shot a couple quick groups off sticks and was pleased, hopefully it holds tight and I can gain some confidence this weekend. We've called in bobcats on every hunt this season. Starting to see them in barnlots and on the edge of towns, they've reached the point we should be able to hunt them. I'm hoping we get the season approved for next year although I don't necessarily agree with it opening on October 15th. I'd prefer not to have the season open during deer firearms seasons, I'm afraid the deer hunters will reach the quota before fur is even prime. Here's one I'm seeing on a regular basis, she's very daytime active.

Nice song dogs. We don't get those black ones around here too often. Have y'all used outrigger outdoors red eye predator hunting light? I got one in last weekend and got a coyote followed by a couple fox last night. Light is crazy bright but luckily you can dim it down as well as switch between red/white. Hope to get a couple more tonight!! If you want to check the light out: outriggeroutdoors.com

Good deal Brandon, looks like you're getting it done! I've shot a few red fox and one gray fox on recent hunts, great prime coats. Got some pretty cool photos to share from this season when I have time.
I've been out of the loop since thanksgiving, on the road and overseas. Just came back from Lafayette, barely beat the weather home.

Just for old times sake I typed in MPH in the search bar and this forum came up. I had no idea it was still around, I miss you assholes! HA! Same here lumpy! I was just googling "Coyote Steel" to review their beam sheets and this place crossed my mind. I'm blown away that it's been 18 months since my last visit! Still living the good life, randomly running into guys from the old crew, some have even moved into my neck of the woods recently! Hope to see ya'll at Bob's on 9/27.
